Central Receiving

Overview

Central Receiving and Mail Services (CRMS) acts as the central receiver for all faculty and staff-related goods entering the Okanagan campus, ensuring they are handled appropriately and are directed to the correct recipient in a timely manner.

Delivery / Pickup Instructions

All items received at Central Receiving are sorted, processed, and delivered within one business day.

Delivery appointments will be made for any item requiring a signature from the recipient, such as perishable goods.

If it is urgent that you pick up your item, contact us at 250-807-9105 or centralreceiving.ok@ubc.ca to request that we notify you of the item’s arrival. Otherwise, your item will be delivered on our next scheduled run to your area.

Delivery points are mail rooms, labs, or other designated delivery locations.  If you wish to set up a lab delivery point, please contact us.

Please note that the services of CRMS are for University business only. Personal items that are not for UBC use should not be delivered to the University.

Students living on campus should visit the student housing website for more information on receiving mail.

Large Incoming Shipments

Some shipments may require more than one person for delivery due to their size or weight. CRMS will notify you of the shipment’s arrival to initiate a discussion regarding your delivery options.

Perishable Goods

CRMS receives items daily that are time-sensitive, such as items that are perishable, temperature-sensitive, or living.  Upon receipt, the end user is notified of the shipment’s arrival via email.  These items can be picked up at Central Receiving during business hours, or you may contact us to make a delivery appointment.

Dangerous Goods

CRMS receives items that are hazardous on a daily basis.  Upon receipt, the recipient is notified of the shipment’s arrival via email.  CRMS will deliver the shipment to the recipient’s designated lab delivery point as soon as possible.
